I love my work as a counsellor and psychotherapist. I work with individuals and couples on a wide range of issues listed below. I have worked in private practice for over 15 years and, before that, in social services for 10 years. I am a clinical member of the Ontario Society of Psychotherapists and was a supervisor with the Canadian Centre for Bereavement Education and Grief Counselling. In addition, I work as an employee assistance counsellor.
In my work I like to focus on the strengths of people. Clients often say, "You must be bored by listening to peoples' problems." On the contrary, people fascinate me because they contain so much depth and creativity. Because of this, I feel priviledged to do the work I do.
I also enjoy giving presentations and seminars on subjects related to mental health. I give these talks because it is important for people to better understand this topic so they can demystify it and make it less frightening. I strongly believe that we will not advance as a species unless we can understand what lies within us.
